We invite your participation in the Museum of the Plains Volunteer Program. Join today and be a part of this venture that will benefit our community for generations to come. Different VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES are available. As a volunteer you can work behind-the-scenes with cataloguing artifacts, cleaning dinosaur bones, do photographic projects, design and install exhibits or do general clerical work in the office. You can work directly with the public by giving guided tour of exhibits, interviewing old-timers, recording and transcribing oral histories, assisting with public relation projects or coordinating educational projects with area schools.

Museum volunteers may choose from some of the following service areas: this is just a small description of the opportunities:

*DOCENTS work directly with the public as interpreters to the Museum's permanent & temporary exhibits. They assist with all the school programs, as this is their most important function. These tours are done in English and Spanish.

*STAFF VOLUNTEERS help to maintain files, prepare mailings, and assist the director in organizing and cataloging Museum collections.

*MUSEUM GREETERS at the Information desk assist museum visitors, answer questions, provide directions, and give information.

*SPECIAL EVENTS VOLUNTEERS assists with events such as the Pioneer day and Mammoth Marathon.

*FUNDRAISING VOLUNTEERS work in particular with all fundraising events.

Training classes will be held monthly.
